The minority government had a back plan to keep up with the promises by saying they are doing the best they can through corporate tax cuts and personal tax cut, but these are unnecessary as it wouldn’t take on effect until the year 2010 (Walkom 2005). The proposed 2005 budget was to satisfy two out of the three parties to prevent an election from happening and the leaders of most parties were satisfied with having some of their requests met (Clark 2005). In the funding there was a little something for everyone as the money was spread all around and it even gave hope to the baby boomers who are soon to be retired as the Liberals announced that a return of 30% foreign content limit on all RRSPs and RPPs contributions (Chevreau 2005). Even though this year was an overall improvement from the Liberals it will have a negative impact in the long run because apparently they are “spending over 82% since their balance eight years ago (Jennings 2005).” Also this is contrary to the future tax increases, as these abrupt decisions had been created. It will be a future burden for the coming generations who are the ones paying for these expenditures. Not only are there investments in the Kyoto Protocol and the national child-care program, but with these large sums of money, “there are no strings attached (Galloway 2005)....
