She is an American woman with statue that called for a change in the way humankind viewed the natural world. Carson was able to do that with her straight forward proven word. She is a true pioneer in the environmentalist community. This rural river town girl out of Springdale, Pa. has been passionate from the beginning with the environment. Her love for nature was passed down to her from her mother. Rachel also spent a lot of town on in the wilderness on the 65-acre farm that she grew up on and she said it was there she really started to fall in love with nature and realize it was there for her and anyone to enjoy and not to harm. Her passion for writing came down the road while she was in college and later when she graduated and became a write for a radio show. While working on “Romance under the Water” she gained a lot of insight into the ocean. In 1942, she said she got an urge to write a novel which she eventually was titled Under the Sea-Wind and it gives a naturalist's picture of ocean life.
