Advocates are Needed
...er, they are asked to try something new that is being tested. My friend’s dad had cancer last year and hope for his survival was fading away. He tried a medicine that was still being tested and he lived for a longer time than expected. If scientists were to keep new discoveries and findings to themselves, then people will not ever know about the experimental cures that are being tested. Cancer patients will never know they have other options. Many scientists and people dedicate themselves many to ending breast cancer through the power of action and advocacy by doing fund-raising and telling people more about breast cancer. Their goals are to increase federal funding for research. If they are to act as analysts only, the federal funding would not come about as easy as it would if people were fighting for a cause. The breast cancer association has made over millions of dollars by advertising and being such advocates and also offering a sence of hope from other people all around the United States. People and scientists have the right to be advocates and fight for what they believe in. Being an advocate may be the only hope for people with breast cancer. When scientists find a new cure for cancer, it would bring more hope for men and women with this horrible disease. Every twelve minutes a woman dies of breast cancer. I have two great-aunts that struggle with breast cancer that search for survival everyday. When a cure is found for breast cancer, they will have more hope in their hearts. Many people may argue th...
