Frankenstein
...s present under any of the following conditions: (1) A person intends to kill another, without justification or excuse, and succeeds in doing so. In some jurisdictions, the intent to kill may be inferred from a person’s intentional use of a deadly weapon against another. (2) A person intends to inflict upon another a serious injury short of death, but instead brings about an unintended death. The first witness is Victor Frankenstein himself, and he has his own story to tell. I am a scientist from Geneva, I have been charged with four murders in the past eight years. I studied at Ingolstadt and one of my professors, Professor Waldman, got me interested in science and I started to make a monster from different human limbs. I really didn’t expect the monster to come alive and be as hideous as it was, I was frightened, and then I ran away. A few years later, I received a letter from Elizabeth, an orphan that my family had adopted, saying that my brother, William, was murdered. On my way home from Geneva, I saw my monster on a mountain, and I realized that the monster was on the loose and probably destructing everything. As I was walking up the mountain, the monster approached me, but I told him to go away, and the monster soon persuaded me to listen to his story. I then agreed to listen to the monster out of curiosity and compassion. The monster told me of how he was rejected by mankind because of how ugly he looked. He requested to have me create a female companion to go to South America and eat berries and nuts, and never disturb mankind again, but if I refused to create a female companion for him, the monster threatened to kill my loved ones. At first, I refused, but then I finally agreed because I didn’t want my family to go through anymore suffering because of me. After I promised the monster, I started to have doubts about it. I thought that if there were two of them, they would just cause more havoc, and I thought about what would happen if the female monster didn’t want to be secluded in the jungle, away from human contact, and what would happen if they had children. I went to England to collect more information for my next creation, and I decided that I wanted to marry Elizabeth, but after I finished my creation. I destroyed the monster that I was working on because I was having second thoughts. I went to the lake, I rowed the boat in the middle, and I threw all the remains of my destroyed creation into the lake. The monster saw me destroy the creation, and he becomes enraged and kills Henry Clerval. The next morning, I went into town, and everyone accused me of killing Henry Clerval. The monster promised me that he would be with me on my wedding day. I then came down with an illness, and was sick for approximately two months, and before I recovered, I found myself in prison. Mr. Kirwin visited me in prison, and then he tells me that my father, Alphonse, has come to visit. I went on trial for Henry’s murder, but was found innocent, so I went back home to Geneva with Alphonse. I received a letter from Elizabeth because she thought that I was in love with someone else, and I wrote back to her saying that she is the one that I love. I then remember the monster’s promise to be with me on my wedding night and I thought that the monster was going to attack me. My father and I arrive at home, and then I told Elizabeth that I had a secret to tell her, but not until after we were married because I was scared that she wouldn’t want to marry me after she found out about the monster. On my wedding day, I was nervous about my confrontation with the monster, but the monster never came. After the wedding, Elizabeth and I went to spend the night at a family cottage. We went on a walk, and after we came back, I searched the cottage for the monster, when I suddenly heard a scream; I realized that it was Elizabeth who screamed. I then realized that I wasn’t the person that the monster wanted to hurt; it was Elizabeth the whole time. I went home to tell my family the tragic news about Elizabeth, and a few days later, my father died. I tried to tell everyone that the cause of everyone’s death was because of a monster but no one believed me. I then decided to devote the rest of my life searching for the monster, hoping to destroy it. The sec...
