Film Analysis of film pocahontas

...uld find him deeply attractive. Those are the three main points that bug me the most while watching this film. First I’ll touch on a Indian stereotype that plays a role in most films. Im sick of every Indian movie I see that has a lead Indian female in it is always a princess of some type. Come to think of it all Disney movies have to so with princesses. And why is that I honestly would go watch a movie with a normal human being in it. Or is that we as Americans are so infatuated with the thought of wealth and power that we need to see it in every movie we see because Pocahontas had lots of power she ordered her dad to spare John Smith because she loved him. While reading an excerpt in my textbook writing as revision I learned that while illustrating Pocahontas herself they were having trouble debating what she should look like. There were three main choices really the real Pocahontas, this Native American lady and, Christy Turlington.. And while the main illustrator for Pocahontas was a white male he naturally leaned more towards the super-model look than being realistic. I feel they did this because we wouldn’t want an ugly princess now would we. I mean would a bunch of little girls wanna say mommy I want to be Pocahontas if she were short, fat, not attractive, useless, that’s right I didn’t think so. And to tell you the truth the real Pocahontas died from tuberculosis in England. She was also only 12 when this all happened so she couldn’t have been as nearly “developed”as the Disney version .Oh, and another thing I do believe that loin cloth she’s wearing is a bit risque’ for the forest especially over there because its not really that warm to be running around half naked in maybe 70-80 degree weather and swimming in 50 degree water in the summertime. Next I’ll touch on the hunk John Smith who does resemble Brad Pitt in his days with longer hair. Well my argument is why does John Smith have to be this clean shaven blonde, blue eyed muscle man with the voice of Mel Gibson. Oh no I know why because sex sells even in children movies sex sells. Because I know I wouldn’t go see a movie with ugly actors in it. I know John Smith is every soccer moms fantasy that’s the only reason moms took their kids to see it. I mean come on he’s Brad Pitt and Mel Gibson all rolled into one. Oh now I know why they made poor Pocahontas of age its because no mom wants to see a mid twenties year old man hit ona twelve year old girl. No one wants to think of Smith as a pedophile. I know I would be disgusted to see a man of that age seducing a child yuck. But if john smith makes Pocahontas fall in love with him hey he’s doing something right. I think this is a common female fantasy as well being swept of your feet by a big, brave, strong, foreign man. This sort of resembles all those old Indian movies where the big macho Indian warrior seduces the delicate, virginal, white woman except this ones a little backwards. I think here Disney is trying to show us the audience that yes interracial relationships are ok and not to be frowned upon. But then again Pocahontas is really just a white girl with a bit of a tan if you ask me. And finally the analysis of the Indian tribe . Well these peaceful people only really fought if they were really and I mean really being threatened. In real life these indians put up close to no figh...
