...n from Iran and Syria. For the cable part of this report I chose CNN. I found it to be the most popular cable news network so I just assumed they have the best news as well. Their top stories were fairly similar. They spent more time on the mudslide story than did World News Tonight but I didn’t find it as complete. World News Tonight had more reactions from people and that made the story more emotional. Three people died because of the storms in California and many are losing their homes because the ground beneath them is sliding away. CNN did a good job covering this story but I felt that World News Tonight did a better job presenting it to the viewers. Both newscasts had in depth coverage of the story but World News Tonight had more reactions from people who lost their homes and people who fear losing their homes. This kind of tragedy makes the viewers feel more emotional when watching it and I felt like that’s what made their stories better. The visuals on both newscasts were done very well. Both stations were very prepared and did a good job presenting the show. I felt the aesthetic edge had to go to CNN. They had many different anchors and all of them did a good job of delivering the story with a steady pace. One thing I noticed from other newscasts and sport shows is that when it’s time to go to a commercial sometimes the anchor looks away from the camera too soon.
