...her Shakespearean comedy. Much Ado About Nothing is a comedy of conspiracy. It involves suspense, question and has a detective story element. Within the comedy of plot, there is a social comedy involving Beatrice and Benedick. Through this couple as well as Claudio and Hero, the play explores the way people interact with each other. Shakespeare shows that love can be very logical but also very passionate. Claudio and Hero have a love that is soft, delicate and logical. Beatrice and Benedick on the other hand, are very passionately in love with each other and show this by quarreling constantly. Comedy starts to play its role in between these core of characters throughout the play. A comedy is not a comedy without evil surrounding it. When Claudio and Don Pedro put their plan into action at the masked ball, Don John appears. He acts as a blocking figure in this play and causes many problems for the lovers. Claudio, after being discouraged by don John by telling the prince wants her, decides to marry Hero anyway. Most tragedies begin with marriage and end with marriage. It is no the case in this play. After Claudio knows that Hero supposedly cheated on him, he decides to call of the wedding and disgraces her in front of his father and others present. Her father then pretends that she is dead because at that time, girls who lost their virginity before marriage were a disgrace to the town and her selves. This is the reason why Claudio could not marry her. After the incident, Beatrice and Benedick declare their love for each other. She tests Benedick’s love by ordering him to kill Claudio because he disgraced her cousin in a volatile manner. Benedick agrees but doe not kill anybody. And so, the viewer of the movie starts to see that comedy does not deal with life or death issues. It is led to believe that the play will end in a tragedy, but the role of minor characters ...
