... and Americans did not agree on much and old scars began to sear. On a clear day in Lawrence the radio and tv stations announced the threat and warnings of nuclear attacks. Most thought nothing of it, but as the day progressed so did the tension. It was hard on how to feel about all this and the stress was at its highest levels when the missile silos around Lawrence began to open up and deploy missiles. This meant one of two things, either the soviets fired and we reacted or we had fired and the soviets missiles were about to be fired back. The population of Lawrence had no idea what to do or how to protect themselves. The missiles arrived and people were left stranded outside. Most people who were outside were burned-up immediately.
