Most of the time, the farmers’ and industrial workers’ demands collided. Farmers, of course, wanted to sell their crops for more, making food generally higher in price. Industrial workers didn’t want to pay more for their meals. Farmers also wanted lower tariffs so their equipment would be cheaper.
