In the reading it explains that even though there are many people communities, they aren’t aware of what goes on within the community, because of economic class and government control, what it told to the African communities is only what the government officials want to them to hear, not what is the truth, nor what is best for them. African journalist don’t have the opportunity to utilize freedom of speech to their advantage as do Western journalists, they have guidelines and they know exactly how far the can go within those guidelines. African journalists have to contend with incarnation or worse death if they speak of anything against the government or inform the communities of anything that the government doesn’t want them to know about or what they feel is derogatory to the government. African journalists also don’t have the media working with them, but against them because in their country the media outlets aren’t as wide set as they are in western culture. Not every household has the economic means to obtain a TV, newspaper or telephone, the media also falls into the same parameters as the journalists. The western civilizations, there exist telephones, computers, televisions and radios, the western journalists are able to not only use freedom of speech. By utilizing the media to assist them with spreading the news sometimes even more so because the media has a tendency to glamorize the news to extreme that even journalists wouldn’t always think about. Freedom of speech in western civilizations isn’t as censored or monitored as closely by government as it is in the African communities. A...
