The PDA and printer divisions will thrive in sales while the personal computer division begins to diminish in sales. Dell’s movement of workers should be accompanied by a recruitment of highly skilled workers within the PDA and printer industries, and a slight layoff in the personal computer division. They will need to layoff 2 percent (750 workers) by June 2003 and another 2 percent by June 2004 in order to make up for lost revenues in the PC market. Because of the magnitude of the new expansion into other markets, Dell will need to increase revenue by other means. Although it is a slight contradiction of the sales model they will increase the price of PC’s 2 percent by December 2003 and another 3 percent by December 2004. CONCLUSION Dell Computer Corporation has become the frontrunner in the PC computer industry. Although it has not conquered the entire computer hardware market, Dell has established itself as a leader. The PC computer giant has stayed ahead of the competition by using its direct sales model and will continue to use this approach to stay highly competitive in the industry.
