...his is a record label called Up-A-Notch Records. I think what this company is trying to do is very clever. Hip-hop has its history of negative things, such as promoting drug use, gang activity, violence, etc. So maybe with this billboard going up it will help get people thinking about hip-hop in different ways. For example "question the source" of your information before drawing conclusions and an opinion. This billboard will help bring different cultures together and help them recognize one another. It will also help the community unite as one. Through out our nation there are many diverse communities. These communities contain a vast amount of many different cultures. Many people through out our nation tend to form an opinion on some one or something before they even know or learn about it. For instance, after 9/11 many people judged middle easterns before getting to know them. Why, because the terrorists that carried out those horrific attacks where of the same decent. So in a way people “draw a conclusion and opinion” before checking the source and or background. This billboard was a very appropriate thing for the public. The way it was displayed, it played with people’s minds and got them thinking. Creating discussion all over the community about a simple quote. I believe this billboard helped people realize that there is more to something then what meets the eye. When these billboards where vandalized I think it just proved the point more of how there are many negative sources in our world that effect us.
