But he faced all these problems bravely and overcame them. He raised the awareness about spinal cord injuries and actively raised money for research into a cure, helping millions of others who have the same condition as him. He showed great courage and determination to try to change his life and the lives of others even in the face of seemingly insurmountable difficulties. The same can be said of the whole of mankind. Mankind exposes itself to danger when it attempts to confront the unknown, yet these attempts have never ceased. The exploration of space is fraught with peril. Since we first started putting humans into space, there have been accidents, and people have died. Apollo 1, the first tragedy to strike the fledgling space endeavor did not even make it into space. Even till today, the risks still exist, but humanity never gave up. In the wake of recent Columbia space disaster in which seven astronauts perished, leaders from around the world sent their condolences to America, urging them not to give up space exploration but instead to continue the cause these seven astronauts have died for. People all around the world mourn the deaths of the astronauts. The Columbia space disaster has brought mankind together. And indeed, humanity has shown great courage to continue pushing beyond the hostile and inhospitable frontier. With the support that the National Aeronautics and Space Administration has been getting from countries around the world to continue space exploration, it is evident mankind can put aside their differences to help victims of a disaster get back on their feet. In the aftermath of the tsunami disaster, donations and aids poured in from all round the globe with a common aim in mind, to help the victims get back to their normal lives.
