But this semester, the topic comes to my mind again. I have one course "research writing", I can choose any methodology and research method to carry out my project. I think "domestic violence" will be a perfect choice for research. It seems that "domestic violence" is more often regarded as a family matter; women who suffer severely from violence just find it shameful to speak it out. And after reading some materials from internet, I find there hasn't any effective law or organization that can actually protect women from domestic violence in China. Another fact is that just a few women are willing to report the violence to the public, on the contrary, there is a much higher reporting rate in the U.S. Then how can I interpret the evident difference in these two cultures? Sound tough. Last week, in ACC in my university, there was a lecture "women's movement in U.S. and in China", given by an American teacher and a Chinese teacher respectively.
