... for being of a higher class than him befcause he knows he cant have that kind of life for him not being around and taking care of him and his mother or for getting his mother pregnant and not thinking about what the child would have to go through when his mother would have him. he also says that he takes his curses back. probably because he saw that it was his own insecurities and he didnt really mean it. he probably realized that in that tim eit was not customary for a white man to be with a different colored family. in the second stanza he says he cursed his mother and wished bad things for her in the past. i think he might have done this because she was not able to offer him a better lifestyle, or for getting pregnant by a white man knowing the consequences of it. i think he takes back the curses and wishes because he realizes i twas not her fault. he ends up wishing her well becvause she br...
