Siddhartha
...iddhartha’s within. Siddhartha wonders why his parents have never reach Nirvana which is the universal understanding of life; he believes that by changing to another religion he will somehow achieve more than what he could achieve with the Brahmins. This is because Siddhartha’s wish doesn’t depend oh whom he would learn from, but how big his chance would be to get it. For example, when I was eleven years old I decided to make a decision that change my life completely. I grew up in a Christian family and we attended church three times a week, and sometimes I felt that I wasn’t happy at all. Even though I had a nice family, and all the people at church were nice I still felt that I didn’t understand the reason of why I had to go to church and sacrifice my self sometimes by fasting or trying to not do anything wrong. Sometimes I would go to church and feel no change after it was over. As a result I decided to find out by my self what the real purpose of being Christian was and how come if they said I was supposed to be happy I felt sometimes that my life didn’t make any sense. This is because being religious and following all the requirements to be counted as well, doesn’t give happiness. In order to achieve complete happiness, or to reach spiritual enlightenment like Siddhartha’s wish, there are hard decisions one has to make even if it implies to leave our own family or friends. Siddhartha decides to leave his parents in order to follow the path that can take him further away in his spiritual growth. Friendship is one of the strongest bonds between human been and it would give up anything in order to maintain its existence. Govinda, Siddhartha’s best friend decides to accompany Siddhartha in his journey to spiritual enlightenment, showing that no matter what happens, they will be always together. However, Covina and Siddhartha represent two different kinds of people who after the years, move by separate destinies in order to become what they’ve desired for. . As Govinda represents a honest, weak, follower type of personality, Siddhartha battles to learn his purpose of life by himself, not letting the wise men convince him that what they teach is all there is to know; but instead Siddhartha chooses a path different from Govinda’s This is because Siddhartha’s emptiness can’t be fulfilled by the masters lessons, not from the Buddha, a man to be known as one of the achievers of Nirvana. In the passage “He realized that there was one thing he had left behind… the desire to have a teacher or to hear teachings.” This is because none of the teachings he hears give him the results he is been looking for. Consequently, he decides to run through his own direction, friend choosing his own anxieties over his best friend Govinda. These shows how strong can become an individual’s expectation of life and what he is willing to give up in order achieving his goals. Siddhartha chooses a path different from the one Govinda chooses, sacrificing a bond that has kept them together for years, waking up into a new dimension that turns his life upside down. Money and pleasures are not always the answer for complete happiness. As many people miss the concept of the value of life, many understand that money may buy material things and pleasures but not happiness .For example, when Siddhartha becomes a business man through Kawaswami, he starts earning a lot of things and becomes a rich man, getting ideas from Kawaswami who teaches him business life and how to be a winner. But throughout the years, Siddhartha learns that even though he has become rich, he still feels unhappy with what he’s become. For example, in the passage: “gradually the soul sickness of the rich was taking him over”, this shows how Siddhartha stars noticing that money wasn’t as productive for his search for happiness as it seemed. This is because, Siddhartha takes ...
