In the short story, “The Flowers” by Alice Walker, a ten year old girl named Myop lives with her family in a sharecrop cabin. The protagonist seems to live a normal and happy life. As the hero skips along through the woods behind her house she sees nothing else but the beautiful surroundings. She was wondering through the woods picking various flowers and ferns. She had then begun to make her way home until she stumbled across a strange sighting. As Myop pushed away the debris, “She saw a tall man, he’d had large white teeth all of them cracked or broken, long fingers, and very big bones. That’s when Myop realized how different life can be. “The Flowers” is a perfect example of internal conflict.
