... being hit himself. He needed to be able to hit his opponent in a manner that would allow himself to be able to hit him repeatedly and also block him from hitting back. Balance is also another important key factor. If someone gets hit hard enough it could knock them off balance. Rocky was able to keep good balance. If someone gets hit hard enough there is no doubt about it, they are going to go down. Through all the training Rocky had he was able to maintain his body in proper equilibrium through most of his fights. The most important factor that Rocky needed was agility. Boxers need to be quick on their feet. They need to be on their toes. They are constantly moving around trying to hit their opponents while moving out of the way of getting hit themselves. They need to be able to do this quickly and efficiently. The speed-accuracy trade-off isn’t really acknowledged with these movies. The fighters need to be quick and have speed at what their doing whether it’s hitting, blocking, etc… Accuracy isn’t really an issue. They either hit the guy or they don’t. The opponent again is constantly moving so depending on where they move or how they block will depend if Rocky will be able to hit him or not. At the end of the movies, Rocky really didn’t need to improve much. He did what he was capable of doing. He trained to become the champion. Rocky’s coaches had a major impact on him throughout the movie. The coaches, Mick and Apollo, were domineering and very competitive. They pushed Rocky along. If Rocky had coaches that were compassionate he wouldn’t have been able to get where he was. They are the ones who showed Rocky the training techniques that they used. Apollo was a former fighter so he knew exactly what Rocky should do. Rocky became a faster, stronger fighter through all of his training. One technique that he used to improve his non dominant hand was tying his one arm behind his back. This allowed him to make his right hand just as good as his left. This allowed him to become a stronger fighter. He also would jump rope to make himself quicker on his feet. He would do one-handed push ups and pull ups, sit ups, lift, swim laps, endurance runs, and sprints. All of this w...
