... ideology leaves me in favor of gay rights. I believe homosexuals are people just like everyone else, and sexual preference shouldn’t be a basis of judgment. Sexual preference should be thought of just like race and sex is, something that isn’t controllable. Marriage is a union between a man and women granted by the church but also having specific privileges in the state. Ultimately the debate of marriage should be the church’s decision, however the privileges should be granted to gay couples in the same perspective as a union. Economically I feel that social security should not be privatized, but more conservatively I am against raising taxes and the ample amounts of aid and welfare distributed. I don’t think Medicare should become a national right, in the countries that do follow this policy you can often be waitlisted for treatments. Also if it were just nationally distributed people would have less motivation to work, it is in a way in the same category as welfare. Politically I consider myself a democrat but I see this changing in the future. Like most democrats I favor the larger government with aid for the less fortunate, on the other hand though, as much as I like welfare I think it leads to laziness and in the long run it only has a negative affect. I understand both sides of many of the arguments. My ideology has been primarily been influenced by my family. They are all registered democrats. We usually agree on most topics, however we can disagree. Such is the case as in Electoral College, I support it and my mother does not.
