...a powerful component. Yet again reason alone can take us into many directions. Approaching knowledge from a biological perspective, some would declare that knowledge is what one sees. However this imperialistic understanding does not withstand the saying that things are not what they seem to be. For instance an individual may look at an apple and state that it is red. If the color spectrum and the way the human eye perceives light is taken into account, it is quite clear that red is absent from the apple and due to the lack of the color, the eye sees it. This example happens to also challenge another imperialistic invention. The first step in the scientific method is observation and as we have already seen, the eye is not a reliable tool in every case. As previously discussed certain observations are actually illusions. The way the eye perceives color is just one of many. While for certain others, it is unfeasible to witness them first hand. Darwinian evolution has governed biology for centuries. Students are taught how the human came about by evolving from an ape. No matter how logical Darwin’s progression of events people still feel the earge to see or come into contact with an event to believe it, despite of the obvious deceptions the eyes create. Of course there is evidence supporting the transformation of an ape to a man. And there is also a substantial amount of verification to annihilate the theory. In spite of all this, there are no facts to endorse Darwin’s hypothesis or illuminate another. A more rational approach to the subject matter of knowledge would encompass a stringent analysis of what constitutes this word. Is knowledge true? How true is it?
