The Haymeadow

PLOT SYNOPSIS John Barron , a 14 year old boy, like his father is asked to spend the summer taking care of their sheep in the haymeadow. Six thousand sheep. It takes John two days to get up to the wagon up to the haymeadow. From here on out John is alone, except for two horses, four dogs, and the sheep. John didn't really want to go up to the meadow by himself for the summer, but if it will make his father happy and proud of him, he will go. John soon finds out that it won't be the camping trip that he imagined it would be when 'things' start to happen. The river floods, coyotes attack, and one of the dogs gets a serious cut on his feet. Through all of these mishaps, John must rely on his own survival skills, cunningness, and smarts to survive this summer up in the haymeadow. With only one month left Johns dad showed up unexpectedly to check up on his son and see how things were going. John was surprised since he and his father weren't very close.
