The Shining
...last off season caretaker. His name was Mr. Grady and he had brought his two daughters and wife up to live with him. Grady had also brought alcohol with him, which to the hotel was an insurance liability. The hotel is located in an isolated area that is not accessible during the winter time. What Watson tells him is that Grady was stricken with cabin fever, which made him axe to death his family, which he then neatly stacked. After their murders he then put a gun in his mouth and committed suicide. Watson also tells Jack that many murders and deaths have occurred at the hotel , but there is no need to worry. During the time of the interview Danny and his mom were at their house in Boulder awaiting the arrival of their dad and husband. Danny remained outside waiting on the porch for his dad to come home. Danny was not like any other child, he could have a kind of vision into either the future or the past. He could also read peoples minds. He hadn’t told anyone of his gift, but he sometimes would have blackouts that involved his “invisible friend” Tony. Tony basically showed him what was to come and to give his point of view on the subject. Upon waiting for his dad he wondered what he was doing at that moment in time. At that exact moment his dads voice came into his head saying “I hope they have some damn nails to fix this roof. I hate shingles.” During the reading Tony appeared to him showing him a room that had the bathroom door open. He then went into the bathroom to find a woman in the bathtub with blood running down her middle finger. He also saw and heard the word REDRUM. Danny then begged Tony to get him out of his dream and Tony told him to not go to this place, but Danny had never been their before in his life. When Danny came back into reality he was soaked in sweat and panting loudly. Wendy then called out to Danny to come in, but at that moment Jack pulled up in the VW, announcing that he had gotten the job. The next morning the whole family set out for Sidewinder, which was a three and a half hour drive. The whole time during the drive up Wendy was worried that the old VW bug would not be able to make it up to the Outlook, but she was proven wrong when they arrived at the isolated hotel. The family was greeted by the staff and Mr. Ullman. There were still many guests checking even though it was closing day. The family was then given a tour of the kitchen by the head chef Mr. Hallorman. During the tour Hallorman had called Danny doc, like his parents called him. Wendy was confused but decided to not ask. Later on Danny was calling Mr. Hallorman Dick. Again Wendy was puzzled, but she kept silent. At the end of the tour Dick asked Danny to help him with his bags, because for the off season he was going to Florida. Dick then had a strange conversation with him discussing shining and reading peoples minds and how he could tell the past or the future. Dick told Danny that it was normal, but most people did not have the power. Dick then told Danny about how he feared room 217 and that Danny should not go near it. Dick also told him that if anything was going wrong that Danny should “call him” and he would be right over. About a month or so passed and there appeared to be no problems at the Outlook. One day Wendy was journeying through the hotel when she stumbled upon some of Jacks writings. On all of the papers is read “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” This frightened Wendy, who then ran to the kitchen to make Danny some food. While in there Jack attempted to attack her, but Wendy threw a vase over his head, which knocked him unconscious. Danny didn’t like seeing this happen, because to him he still was his daddy even though he had done something wrong. Wendy then dragged him to the pantry to keep him there. A couple hours later Jack heard a voice, it was the voice of Grady the old caretaker. He told Jack that he needed to correct his wife and children for all the bad they had done. Grady then unlocked the door and Jack told him that he would not let him down. Jack then grabbed a mallet and went on the search for Wendy. Wendy and Danny had locked themselves in the hotel room, but Wendy knew that she needed to check around for Jack and his status. Danny had told her that he was free now. While walking down the main corridor steps she received a strong blow of the mallet to her stomach. She tried to crawl up the stairs, but he then hit her right under the knee cap. Next he hit right under her neck and broke two of her ribs. She continued to crawl up the stairs, despite the pain of her ribs cracking every moment. Wendy then reached the room, but Jack was close behind. Wendy sent Danny to hide, for she knew that she was going to have to lock herself in the bathroom and that could be the end of her. Wendy then rushed to the room and locked herself in the bathroom. Jack cam...
