Because Romans take so much pride in their honor and their word as a person and as a country, Brutus believed that they did not half to take an oath due to the fact that they were Romans, good to their word without even saying it. Brutuss honorable traits and qualities contributed to his leadership and how he was viewed by Romans. Cassius had a good point when he said, I know that virtue to be in you, Brutus, as well as I do know your outward favor. Well honor is the subject of my story. With that comment, Cassius highlights the fact that Brutus intentions are honorable. Brutus also proved himself honorable when he said, For let gods so speed me, us I love the name of honor more than I fear death. By that Brutus meant that he would rather have the Gods speed his life up, and bring death nearer, than not be honorable. This is why Brutus felt it necessary for them not to have an oath and to just be honorable romans because thats what they are and they should not need a pact or oat...
