...elfishness and sacrifice of their own lives. First of all, firefighters and police officers who gave their lives on 911 do deserve to be called as heroes because of their noble mind. For instance, these firefighters and rescue workers were human beings. They loved themselves and loved their families. They already knew the fact that their jobs were dangerous professions and it could be necessary to die for someone. They became firefighters just because of what their heart told them not because of wanting to earn an honor. No one wants to die and leaves people they care and love just to be a hero. Therefore, there is no reason to be against for giving an honor to people who really deserved for their noble mind. The next reason we called them as heroes because of their unselfishness. Consider the moment the twin towers fell down. Buildings were burning and people were screaming and yelling for help. In the chaos mentioned above, firefighters were only the group of people who put their lives on the line and went to the WTC without hesitation when everyone else was running out. These were people who run into the buildings to save the innocent and these were people who risked their lives to HELP others. They died in the line of duty, so please tell me, if these unselfish firefighters do not deserve to be heroes, what kind of people do? Lastly, although firefighters and police officers who died in terrorist attack are paid occupations, they should be rewarded as heroes because of the sacrifice of their lives. Actually, determining heroism depends on each individual’s choices and opinions.
