Emily Dickinson's Life

.... Following 1882, her mother died and two years later Judge Otis P. Lord, close friend of Dickinson family, died. As a result, in 1886, she had Bright’s disease, a kidney dysfunction. She died on May 15, 1886, in Amherst, Massachusetts. After her death, her poems were published by her relatives. There are three volumes published from 1891 to 1896, and Bolts of Melody were published in 1945. In 1955, Thomas H. Johnson published the complete text of Emily Dickinson. Her life remains mystery as she isolated herself from outside world. She dressed mostly in white, replaced travel by exchange letters, and saw a few visitors who came to meet her. She was an energetic woman in her early age. Her reason of leaving social world remains mystery. Some experts assume there was disappointment of love affair, others claims that she wants to be a complete observer of the world by seeing it from unobstructed view. Despite her solitary, she made few close friends who contributed much in her poems and life.
