The music on Christina’s Stripped album ranges from sad and revealing, rock n’ roll, soulful ballads , rhythm and blues, and Latin America flair, providing listeners with a wide selection of moods and tones. Christina knows she can sing, and with the release of Stripped It’s widely noticeable. According to Nicole Stitt, author of The Colegian, “Aguilera’s vocal abilities are the albums greatest strength. The twenty tracks show off her range and tone quality with out resorting to vocal gymnastics” (Album Review Stripped). Unlike other singers out on the market, Christina can really sing. She has been compared to such divas as Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Aretha Franklin, and it should be a great honor to be compared to such great entertainers. Although Christina’s Album has received many positive critiques, there have been many more negative ones. One reason why her album received many bad reviews is because of “Dirrty”, the debut song for the album. “ Dirrty”, proved to be a very lusty song, whiled the video was revealing, and making her seem more provocative. What one person may see as good, another person may see as bad. According to Peter L-Augusta, “Christina Aguilera’s raunchy, sexy, dark, and over the top look had turned many older fans away, while turning on the younger generation”(Christina Aguilera’s Stripped). What Christina is trying to offer is more than just good looks; she is trying to get peoples attention and give them a life lesson that she has learned the hard way. In “I’m OK” Christina depicts her traumatic childhood, and how she delt with an abusive father, allowing herself to relate with her fans. The title Stripped made a growing number of people enraged with Christina. They associated the word “Stripped’ with her debut song “Dirrty”, and “Infatuation” giving off a negative approach. Fans everywhere seemed to think that the album was more of a sexual episode in the life of Christina Aguilera, In reality, Christina entitled the album Stripped as a metaphor.
