...God’s will with every resource they had without looking back. Every single piece of their energy was spent doing God’s will. They went trough great amounts of exhaustion; not only physical, but emotional and mental. They did not rest till they saw God’s desires being completely fulfilled. As parents Don and Carol went through the great hardship of risking Stephen’s life. It is humanly and culturally natural for parents to put their children as the first priority in their life. The bible tells us that “you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind” in Matthew 22:37. That means that you should Love God more than anything else, including a son. Don and Carol gave up so many things to fulfill the will of the One they are in love with. They left their family and friends with the possibility of not coming back alive. They also gave up all the comforts of technology to go to a place where they are living in conditions that are similar of those of the Stone Age: “I found myself looking at the float plane from the perspective from the view point of the stone age, and I was shuddered!”(Richardson 124). As regular people Don and Carol probably had dreams and desires of their own. They probably wanted to buy a house in the suburbs of some Canadian city and raise their kids in a Christian school.
