She taught me that it was wrong to steal and when she said no that is what she meant. Another lesson that my mother has taught me is that you should not take for granted the people you love. My mother always told that you don’t know what you have until it is gone. This is a very true statement. My grandfather passed away eight years ago. We found out that he had cancer and the doctors gave him six months to live. After the shocking news, we went to see him everyday. We spent as much time with him as much as we possibly could. My mom’s entire family was really close; therefore, it was very hard on everyone. I didn’t understand why he had to be sick. I wanted him to be able to live a long happy life. When he died, I was stricken with grief. It was so hard to watch my mom be in so much pain. I wanted to help her, but there was nothing I could do. My mom said to me, “You have to live your life to the fullest because one day you might not have the chance. Make sure you don’t ever take your family for granted because on day they might not be around.” This lesson that my mom taught me is very important to me because it is so hard to lose someone you love and you don’t want go on in life thinking what if.
