It is common knowledge that the women in history contributed to the victory of world war one, but is often disregarded and unrecorded. Not many people realize that the woman, actually worked hands-on in helping our country through victory and defeat, and it wasn’t just them taking over mans jobs. Women were actually allowed to help on the battle site and apply themselves upfront and in the action. They helped work in the air force by shipping things back and forth in planes. They also assisted on the battle sites as nurses, curing disease and wounds any of the soldiers might have had. A woman being able to fight wasn’t a popular of an option in World War I, but in World War II it was more prevalent option for them. They left kitchens and cashiering jobs, and entered shipyards and defense plants as welders, crane operators, electricians and riveters. They also took on all the other jobs that the men in battle usually did. They kept life back home up and running, and because of the woman we’re all later benefited. Due to the things women did during the war, most women were able to keep their jobs, which were mostly male dominated. They also acquired skills during their time at work, which helped them in the future. Some women did decide to go back to raising a family. They stayed at home as a housewife again, but with less strict expectations. Suddenly women were faced with choices, and by exercising these choices they were able to explore their own individuality, uniqueness and freedom. They had a variety of options to choose from.
