Nowadays, the computer plays a main role in our lives and studies in China. It greatly transforms the way in which that we work, play and communicate. This is the most important impact that Microsoft brought for us. In past years, letters were the most popular way that we made contact with our relatives and friends, but it took us much time. If there was something urgent, letters could not help us. However, today we can contact people from around the world through the Internet. We can not only chat in typing words into computer, but also talk with and even see each other. Before 1975, we could only get news from newspaper and televisions. If we wanted to cooperate with our colleague, we had to consult pictures and data together, or use copies of documents. In contrast, due to the new technology, the function of the calculation and communication of the Internet has become more convenient and more individualized, and we have improved our work efficiency owing to it. So, it is said that the company of Microsoft created a new habitation to us. Microsoft’s impact on China’s economy is very great. It helps our economic development on, and makes China a more active economic player in the world. Since the company invested in China, the economy has increased rapidly, especially in terms of software industry. In past years, only 2.5 percent of China’s population owned a computer and only one percent had Internet access, but these numbers are growing rapidly. In 1997, China was already the six-largest market for personal computer. In addition, Internet users in China quadrupled during 1999. All this data proves the transformation of China’s economy. In order to con tribute on the development of China’s economy, Microsoft created the remarkable software products that suit to China’s situation.
