Moral and Unmoral Laws

... King believed there were many unjust and unmoral laws of his time. He states that any law that raises a person’s spirits is a just law. King also considers any law unjust if it does not abide by the moral law of god. One example of a law that he believed to be unjust was segregation. In a Letter from Birmingham Jail, King states. “All segregation statutes are unjust because segregation distorts the soul and damages the personality. (King ….)” He thinks that this type of law allows the segregator to feel superior to the people who are segregated. King also thinks that any law prohibiting minorities to vote is unjust. He feel that it takes away the opportunity to have a voice in the law making process. King had no problem breaking the law if he did not consider it to be just or moral. There are a few laws in today’s age that I believe to be unjust as well as unmoral. The first law would have to be abortion. An abortion is when a trained professional performs an operation to get rid of a baby that has not been born.
