...get out of the road because it was dangerous, he just followed the direction that he saw. Also throughout the movie he could not function without a set routine. He could not eat if he wasn’t eating with a toothpick and could not sleep if the room was not set up a certain way. People without this disability have no problem sleeping in a motel or eating different things at a restaurant. Hoffman’s character for the most part was not included in activities with people his age. As Cruise said at one point in the movie he was “in a world of his own”. Even when they were in Las Vegas gambling Hoffman had no idea what was really going on he was just counting the cards and following steps that Cruise had told him to follow. Hoffman could however, feed himself and do certain things like that by himself. People without disabilities treated Hoffman pretty unfairly and rather bad. When he stopped traffic for instance the man got out of the truck and started yelling at him. Cruise also mistreated Hoffman. He would yell at him and lead him ...
