...vation. First, the writer is talking about the atmosphere at the church revival. Langston was only twelve when his aunt took him to a church revival at Reed’s church. There the writer saw priest preaching, people singing, praying and shouting. He saw many sinners that had been brought to Christ. He notices that the church membership was grown by leaps and bounds. Then just before the end of revival, they hold a special meeting for children. Hughes was escorted to the front row by his aunt. There he saw other young sinner who were not yet been brought to Jesus. Hughes was told by his aunt that he will see Jesus as a form of light and something will happen inside him. Second, the writer talks about the excitement of seeing Jesus Christ as his aunt describe him. He believed her and sat there calmly in the hot crowded church waiting for Jesus to come to him. After the preacher preached his wonderful sermon, he called the children sitting in the front row to come to Jesus. Most of them went, but the writer and some others just sat there. Many people came and knelt around them and started praying. However writer was still waiting to see Jesus. It was getting late and some of them were frustrated and tired and so they decided to go up to the alter even though they didn’t saw Jesus. Thus the writer sat alone on the mourners’ bench waiting for Jesus to come to him but it never happened. Third, writer talks about his feeling after the salvation. As the writer sat alone on the bench his aunt and the whole congregation started praying for him. He waited patiently for Jesus to show up but he never came. It was getting late and the writer felt ashamed of holding everything...
