...e meaning of nursing is often forgotten in the responsibilities of completing the endless paperwork or the large patient loads. To me, the true meaning of nursing goes beyond providing only the basic medical care, but providing care to the elderly individuals who often lose their sense of individuality because they are no longer able to care for themselves. Although, I am now very sure of my calling as a nurse, I was not always so sure I was meant to be a college graduate. While I was attending Elizabethtown Community College I received non-passing grades in my nursing courses and a microbiology class. I strongly believe my failure in these subjects was due to my immaturity at the time and not understanding the importance of setting aside an appropriate amount of time for studying class material. After receiving these failing grades, the realization of not graduating college became very real to me for the first time. I switched to Jefferson Community College for a new start because I thought maybe I had become too comfortable in my environment and needed a change. While at Jefferson Community College I learned new time management skills and picked up new study habits that have enhanced my abilities as an overall student. These new skills have been very effective as demonstrated in my passing grades achieved since then.
