...te. People who live together and are seeking marriage say there are many advantages to cohabitation. It is a testing period for the relationship. It is a trial marriage to see if they are ready and willing to commit to each other for life. Many people say that you will accumulate more money since you both are sharing the income. People think that if you make more money then you can save more money together. Security issues are also involved with cohabitation. Many people feel scared and insecure about living without their partner. They decide by living together they can be a more confident person in that relationship. The church’s view is total opposite to what the majority of people in society believe in. The church sees cohabitation as a threat to a potential marriage. The church does not believe that cohabitation before marriage is a moral or acceptable preparation for this sacred bond. Rather, the church sees cohabitation as a threat to the marital happiness that engaged couples so desperately seek. Cohabitation as an actual threat to marital happiness. John Paul II is quoted by saying this about cohabitation, “human life is a gift received in order to then be given as a gift”.
