...to be a school teacher. But when I started going to my classes I started to realize that this was not the career I wanted to pursue. After long consideration and slacking off, I decided to get a degree as a secretary, now called Administrative Assistant. Even though I was only getting a two-year degree, it took me 5 years to graduate. I finally did graduate in June of 2000, with an Associate Degree in Applied Business. While I was going to Clark State I was working at Speedway SuperAmerica LLC, corporate office for the gas station, as a payroll clerk. Before I graduated I got a secretarial job, in the same company, in the department of Administrative Services. I worked in that job for three years getting paid $10.02 an hour, even though I started out at $7.00 an hour. I still felt like I deserved more since I have an associate degree in the job I was currently in. While working in this job I got married and divorced all in the same year. So that is when I decided it was time for a big change. I had heard from friends that Columbus Ohio was a great place to work and live. So one day after work, I got on my parents computer and starting looking up jobs in the Columbus area. I was really starting to get discouraged because I could not find anything that sounded interesting to me. After having a conversation with my brother–in-law, he told me to get on the Ohio State web site and look at all there jobs. My brother-in-law recommended that since he goes to Ohio State and that he and my sister live in Hilliard, that it would be a great choice to work at Ohio State and live in Hilliard with my sister. So one afternoon after I got off work I went to Ohio State’s website and saw all kinds of jobs. The one’s that sounded interesting to me I would pull them up and apply for them. It took a few weeks before I heard anything from Ohio State University, but when I did it all happens so fast. I went for my first interview around July of 2003.
