The last “sun moon stars rain” reads the same as the first, indicating a cycle has passed, the cycle of life. Moving on, in stanza three, lines nine through eleven read “children guessed (but only a few/ and down they forgot as up they grew/ autumn winter spring summer).” As previously mentioned, the passing of the seasons once again represents time in addition to the reference to the children. “And down they forgot as up they grew” literally talks about the children growing up. They forget about things that happened in their childhood as they grow older. Next, stanza five begins with the line “someones married their everyones.” Marriage has always been regarded as a very significant occasion in life. It is a turning point and is recognized throughout the world. Stanza seven reads “one day anyone died I guess/ (and noone stopped to kiss his face)/ busy folk buried them side by side/ little by little and was by was.” Death is the end of life, then end of an individual’s time. Not only does it reference the individual, “side by side” refers to a married couple. This is most likely the previous mentioned married couple in the previous stanza. Also, the lines read that the folk were to busy to go to the funeral. The people just buried the people and went on with their lives. This is a criticism on people and their busy lives today. Death is a significant part of life and it should not be brushed away so easily.
