Soon after, people across the country become very supportive and welcoming. They generously gave their donations, and soon the money grew too. With his determination, Terry Fox took on a journey that Canadians will never forget. While in hospital and diagnosed with cancer, Terry was so overcome by the suffering of other cancer patients, many of them young children that he decided to run across Canada to raise money for cancer research. His willingness to help others was one of his inspirations in running the “Marathon of Hope”. His goal was to raise $1 for every Canadian, but unfortunately, he had to stop at Ontario because cancer was in his lungs. Still, today, Terry Fox is unforgotten and known for his desire to help others; this is why Terry Fox runs happen across Canada today. “I’m not ready to leave this world,” Terry says when he found out he had cancer. His continuous hope has given many Canadians, whether diagnosed with cancer or not, hope for their lives. His love for his family has reflected in their support for him during his hard times. Always a competitor, Fox had participated in many marathons and sports teams to always boost his spirit and maintain positive.
