Samuel Gompers started what is known as the American Federation of Labor while Hoffa was elected the international president of the Teamsters Union. Both had good intentions when they started but the difference between the two is that Gompers stayed with those intentions while Hoffa got caught up in the mob. Gompers really got the labor union movement started in America. ...
