Conversion of the Jews
...e a wise guy. This story is about a Jewish kid converting to Christianity. He gets all of his Jewish friends, mother, and the Rabbi to say they believe in Jesus Christ as God. The story can be summarized by the actions he takes at the end of the story. The final promise which Ozzie makes everyone in the street below him take is that they will "never hit anybody about God." After the people kneeling in the street give this promise, Ozzie is satisfied. I think what Ozzie is trying to say at that part of the story is "It is not OK to harm anyone because of their religious beliefs." During the story, Ozzie is struck twice over matters of religion. From the beginning of the story you could tell that Ozzie was both sensitive and thoughtful in his approach to Judaism and Christianity. He was being very serious in his Ray 10 interest in Christianity, and was not just doing it as a class prank. In paragraph 29, he says “I mean, no kidding around”. That to me shows how true his interest in Jesus Christ was. Ozzie is hit twice in the story by his mother and a rabbi, when he questions his faith. I do not think anyone should be hit because of his religious beliefs. One of the characters that did not make much sense to me was the janitor. All he did was walk around and mumble prayers.
