...ntry. You see, through the government’s eyes, we are still children who need to be watched every second of the day. Even though the government sees us as misguided and irresponsible, that doesn’t stop us from being tried as an adult when we’ve stolen cars or murdered another citizens. No! We are adults, fully responsible for the actions we choose. Why can’t the government consider those responsibilities when it comes to “lowering the bar“. As we all know, eighteen year olds are entitled to buy cigarettes. Everyone knows the effects of smoking cigarettes. They may not cause you to become violent or dangerous like alcohol, but they do have long term effects that cause damage to the bodies and yet the government throws them in stores so that we develop lung cancer and die. To be Reid-2 honest, it doesn’t seem like a problem to them as long as they get paid. The government cares no more than you do about these young people. If they did, why let eighteen year olds buy cigarettes. It’s simply…. they’re adults remember. They can take full responsibility of their actions. I feel that if the government allows eighteen year olds to be responsible of this decision, let them be entitled to make a decision about alcohol. I am old enough to marry, and yet I have to toast with a glass of apple juice at my reception right. Wrong! If I am old enough to determine sexuality, I’m damn sure entitle to a glass of wine. The government “told” me I’m responsible enough to determine my life long mate at this age, why can’t I drink to the celebration. After all, the national minimum drinking age act only says that I can’t have public possession of alcohol. As long as I’m with a private establishment, I can drink as many bottles of Vodka as I wish. This law is ridiculous and should be changed! If I’m not responsible enough to consume the responsibilities of alcohol, then I’m not ready to vote, join the army, marry my soul mate, or buy cigarettes. For many years ...
