There are people who kill and maim, but are roaming free because of legal technicalities. There were no legal technicalities for Martha. How much time, money and man power was spent to get this woman? Insider trading is nothing new. Martha got caught but she was not convicted of the act itself… she was convicted of lying to the FBI. The FBI certainly has been lied to before – witnesses change their stories; everyone tries to cover their asses; perhaps there are deals and bribes under the table. Nothing really happens to them. Also, take a look at the Whitey Bulger case – the FBI was just as dirty as everyone involved. (Didn’t an FBI agent take a bribe to keep quiet?) You have to wonder how much the FBI itself lies. Were they so horrified by someone disingenuous, at best, about a stock trade worth____ The irony of it all! Incl___ rebounded to 70 points. It became one of the biggest winners of the Nasdaq in 2004. Martha’s stock ____ also rose. Her worth doubled. Spectators would say that this was all a scheme on her part. One could imagine..was she the worm in the rotten core of the apple that is capitalism? Could she have that much foresight? That’s what the liberals are trying to make of this. Martha is nothing like Ken Lay (Mr. Bye-Bye Enron). She didn’t seem bent on bringing a company to its knees for her own personal gain. Her stock trade, and lying about her information, seemed miniscule in comparison. Martha’s case happened post-ENRON. The whole political atmosphere was charged. Anarchists, politicians, the hoi polloi – they all wanted to see justice done and they viewed this as a perfect example to justify their so-called ideals on right or wrong. Ok, so now she’s even more famous. Here comes a book about her time in the “Big House.” Hey, throw a few throw pillows, some hanging plants, just like home. If she wasn’t well known and a celebrity, Martha would have been swept down. She would have paid a fine and that would be the end of it. People wanted to see her convicted.
