Even after the demise of his great-grandfather referred to as “The Old Colonel” left a great inspiration in the minds of his young male descendants (Padgett 1). When Faulkner was five years old they moved to Oxford, Mississippi where he would live on and off for the rest of his life (Barger 5). Oxford is a normal southern town with farmers and businessmen here and there. The only reason it isn’t considered a small town is because of the University of Mississippi (Barger 5).
