Thoughts on Poverty Among Blacks and White Non Hispanics
...elp for the poor and the wealthy alike, a call to change the world so that many more may have enough to eat, adequate shelter, access to education and health, protection from violence, and a voice in what happens in their communities. In my research study over poverty I have learned many important statistics. In my first assignment over poverty I had to look up in the U.S. Census Bureau poverty statistics of only the following races: Blacks and White Non Hispanics. This assignment also required me to show the statistics through ten year intervals. For example, I used the years 1960, 1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000 to include in my research. My next assignment, however, required much more extensive research. The second assignment I graphed on Microsoft Excel was five of the most populated cities in America. The following most populated cities were Atlanta, Detroit, Houston, New York City and Los Angeles. I used the ten year intervals, Black and White Non Hispanics races and the statistics I gathered from the first assignment. The statistics are amazing from percentages to the total number of people living in poverty.
