...rence, I placed in two of the events in which I competed. BPA also helped to develop my writing skills as I was the organization’s historian reporter and wrote an article each month for our school’s newsletter. My most cherished talent is in my love for volleyball. I have devoted much time and hard work in athletics, specifically volleyball. I was chosen to compete on the varsity team since I was a freshman, lettering every year since. During my volleyball season I devoted between 13 and 15 hours a week working in practice and on my skills, while still doing very well in academically. In the off season of my freshman year I competed in softball and was selected to start and be on the varsity team, lettering as well. During my sophomore year I competed in track and field on the varsity team. I also received Academic All-State Selection for outstanding scholastic and athletic achievement for volleyball and softball. While challenging myself to excel and add to my talents I have also struggled and dealt with many problems at home, one in particular, my mom’s alcoholism. I have been able to be strong and put this aside with help from a counselor and my determination to succeed in life. This has made everything much harder to accomplish, which I believe make my talents unique and well earned. ...
