It just got out of hand. Abigail did not care about whose life would be lost, she and all the girls gained all this power, and now people are starting to pay attention to the girls now. The elders and the court of the town do not question what the girls say because they know that witchery is spiritual and they do not need any physical evidence. All they need is spectral evidence, and the girls know how to play off of all of this. But when one of the girls turn on the group, “ I—I cannot tell how, but I did. I—I heard the other girls screaming, and you, Your Honor, you seemed to believe them, and I—it were only sport in the beginning, sir, but then the whole word cried spirits, spirits, and I—I promise you, Mr. Danforth, I only thought I saw them but I did not.” The court starting to think what if these girls are lying. The mass hysteria begins when Abigail and the girls start to blame witchcraft on some of the other people in the town. Now the people of the town do not know who will be next on the girl’ rampage. They have the whole town crying out witchcraft. As stated above, the girls like the power that the court has given them.
