...ed across the crowded beach, I studied the unfamiliar faces. With every passing couple came bursts of laughter and excitement. Nearby, a cheerful game of volleyball kept a screaming crowd amused. The children ignored their surroundings as they concentrated on their sandcastle wars. The children molded the huge mounds of sand as their mothers continuously lathered them in sunscreen. With every wave that found the shore another child's castle melted away. I watched as many surfers were swallowed into the oceans floor. Mother nature was working at her best while hurling massive waves in every direction. The waves seemed to be devouring them endlessly. The ruffled seagulls stole my attention with their loud screeching and plead to be fed. There was a battle for every scrap as though the hefty birds were starving. I finally decided to arrange my oversized beach towel and rest. As I sat on the towel the sand molded to my every curve. The heat soon felt as if it were melting the sun block off of my skin. The sand that had crept over my towel was now seeping into my sun burnt pores. As I shifted the weight of my body, the pressure seemed to increase. The water looked so refreshing and cool I could no longer bare the wait to swim. I rushed towards the water and could feel the sand sticking between my sweaty toes. As the water touched my warm feet and up my legs the burning sensation left me. I continued to move deeper into the water while the smell of salt filled my senses.
