Things definitely took a turn for the worse when the money and the social status got to Pip. He started accusing people that he loved of being jealous, and he started being embarrassed by his upbringing. He hurt people’s feelings without even knowing it. Although he meant well when he said some of the rude things he did, they hurt people emotionally. When Pip left his home, and went to live with Herbert Pocket, he lived a completely different lifestyle. He began spending more money and being more reckless. As he aged, he began to mature, mentally and emotionally. He finally realized that it wasn’t good to be wasting all his money on those frivolous things, and his friend, Herbert Pocket was in trouble. He started to realize that spending money wasn’t the most important thing in the world, so they cut down their spending and Pip secretly gave Herbert money without hurting Mr. Pocket’s own pride.
