Critical Thinking and Perception Paper Gil Potter PHL251 Pheng K. Moua April 14, 2004 It was in the summer of July 19, 1989 when the incident I didn’t expect happened. I was only sixteen at the time. Some friends and I had put together a soccer team a couple of months earlier. Our main goal was to be on the road and play soccer tournaments with the Asian Association for every city in the state of California. We had a gotten a call at the end of June 1989 from one of the board member in Visalia, California. He had invited our soccer team to play in one of their summer festival soccer tournaments. After hearing this, everyone in the team was really excited and looking forward to the up coming event. I on the other hand, knew it was too good to be true. I had a feeling something bad was going to happen. But, I wanted to be happy with my team and wanted them to know that we deserve to go for all the hard works we’ve done. We were more than ready. On the day of the tournament, we met all the other teams and were given a tour of the soccer field. I was so happy, I felt like we were playing in the Olympics. I also had a chance to meet a girl who was going to be cheerleading for one of the other teams. She was such a cutie and a well-mannered girl. I had told her earlier before the game that I was about to become an Eagle Scout and was the best swimmer on the troop.
