Imagining me back when the republic was changing from a many man rule to a one man rule is a very interesting feat but going from older men ruling to a fresh faced kid in comparison was a very radical idea in my opinion. In relation to the statues the very somber creased face of the senate members on the portrait busts to the fresh, unlined, and not very somber face of Augustus. To me it would feel like the country would go to hell in a hand basket with a man that does not have a lot of experience, wisdom, and in the case of the statue, the seriousness needed to help a country that had many years of civil war and that was also getting over the death of another leader. Point 1: The contrast between the portrait busts and the statue is that the portrait busts deliberately put creases and lines a very somber expression on the faces.
